Cyprus Holidays: Why Cyprus?

The gateway to the east, Cyprus is an island of huge contrasts, with near guaranteed sunshine that seemingly warms the hearts of her congenial people. Sun kissed shores or snow capped mountains, a place where wild and rolling countryside envelopes villages with deep rooted traditions and cosmopolitan resorts offer every conceivable attraction to the discerning traveller.

The gently lapping waves entice swimmers and divers alike into the deep azure sea and the flora and fauna of the Cyprus-weather changing seasons make for a walker or naturalist's paradise. You will be pleased you decided to visit. The weather in Cyprus will not disappoint. Even when it rains it is still exciting as it is normally accompanied by violent thundestorms and spectacular sky displays.

A rich and vibrant history has bestowed Cyprus with many archaeological treasures from Roman times to Byzantine and Ancient Greek, traces of all these regimes are found almost everywhere. Religious monuments are also varied and important examples are scattered throughout such as the incredible remains of a 4th century, seven-aisled basilica, Khrysopolitissa, said to have been built by St Paul himself.

Nature lovers can enjoy abundant wildlife, foxes, hares, sea turtles, the shy Moufflon, not to mention the birds and hundreds of species of flowering plants. The coast has large open bays of sandy and shingly beaches and precipitous cliffs that plunge into the sea. The leisurely pace, the kind and genuine locals, always ready with a smile and a wave and who welcome all and consider a visit to their island as a compliment.
